1:1 Hyper Personalised communication

Heading up the 1:1 Direct Marketing Division for Ince in Cape Town

Ince offered me a position to head up a new division they wanted to play in called 1:1 Marketing. The idea was that standard comms between corporates and their prospective clients were not good enough. We used a program called Xmpie to hyper-personalise cross-media marketing campaigns. And when I say cross-media I mean across all media contact points. Including Personalised Print, SMS, Email and Video.

Rugby World Cup

Working with SARU and the Springboks.

We were transforming the marketing landscape in Cape Town if not South Africa.

The highlight was pitching a complete cross-media campaign with SARU and the Springboks for the Rugby world cup. This was going to be a first in South Africa and a first to be integrated into Facebook. We had loads of meetings with Facebook to make sure our systems could integrate with theirs.

The idea was to send a Hyper personalised mailer to the Springboks database, from there the fans would select a friend from Facebook to join them at the Rugby World Cup. When a friend was selected a personalised video would be shot with the friend’s name all over the video.

The video was shot with the springboks and invited at various locations across Cape Town including the Airport at 2am in the morning. Trust me shooting a video at 2 am in the morning is no joke. But we pulled it off.

Increasing the reach of direct Marketing for Home Choice?

Working with Gavin Forsyth at Home Choice made us realized why he won the award for the best up-and-coming digital marketer in South Africa. Together with Gavin, we create a hyper-personalised email marketing campaign to

Starting with 625 000 unique contacts we grew the Home Choice database to over 850 000 unique customers within a month.

Needless to say, we ran the campaign twice and grew their database even further.

Increasing exposure to drive more subscriptions?

Working with another digital marketing legend (Pierre Marqua) we created a digital marketing campaign for the Wine of the Month Club. Once again the aim was to incentivize their database to update their contact details and at the same time created a refer a friend campaign. This was done so that Wine of the Month could grow their database and at the same time increase potential customers to sign up for monthly deliveries. Therefore creating an overall increase in sales.
